Top 5 Communication Apps on Android in Ukraine: Q1 2022

In the first quarter of 2022, the top 5 communication apps on the Android platform in Ukraine exhibited diverse trends in weekly downloads and active users. This analysis, based on data from Sensor Tower, provides insights into the performance of Telegram, WhatsApp Messenger, Getcontact, Signal Private Messenger, and Opera browser with AI.

Telegram saw a notable increase in weekly downloads, especially in the latter half of the quarter, peaking at around 200K in the last week of February. Active users displayed a steady rise, beginning at approximately 8.9M and reaching around 9.3M by the end of March.

WhatsApp Messenger experienced a gradual increase in weekly downloads, with a noticeable spike to about 94K in late February. However, its active users showed a fluctuating pattern, starting at around 1.2M and ending the quarter slightly lower at approximately 1.1M.

Getcontact had a mixed quarter with weekly downloads declining sharply from about 98K in early January to around 14K by the end of March. Active users followed a similar trend, decreasing from approximately 1.3M to around 944K over the same period. Weekly revenue peaked at $2K in late February but mostly hovered around $1K.

Signal Private Messenger saw a significant rise in weekly downloads, reaching a peak of about 202K in the third week of February. Active users also increased notably from around 65K to approximately 169K by the end of February, before slightly decreasing to about 137K by the end of March.

The Opera browser with AI showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, peaking at around 71K in early March. Active users consistently grew from approximately 1.1M to around 1.4M throughout the quarter.
